Active Physiotherapy was founded in 2005 by a Norweigan physiotherapist living in Bolton. Arild Ege started seeing patients out of a small treatment room in the back of the Total Fitness gyms in Bolton and Whitefield working on the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Physiotherapy contract for Total Fitness. He would also treat gym members and other members of the public. As the practice grew and with Arild’s other commitments as at Lecturer in Biomechanics at Bolton University he recruited another physiotherapist to work part time in the clinic. This physio was Richard Hulbert who at the time was working with Bury Football Club on their first team, youth team and academy players.
In 2008 Arild decided to move back home to Norway with his new wife and start a family there. As Arild moved on Richard took over the reigns of the business and progressed Active Physiotherapy to the place it is today. The purpose built Physiotherapy retail unit at the Bolton gym was completed in 2008. The opportunity to do the same in Whitefield arose in 2014 and now benefits from a modern clinic boasting 2 treatment rooms right at the front of the gym. Both clinics now have full time reception cover to help with the efficiency of the clinic and ensure a warm welcome to our patients.
A refresh of the Bolton clinic is planned for 2017 with the current treatment room there being expanded to provide a more comfortable environment for patients. Across both locations our skilled physiotherapists complete over 4,500 treatments a year and our patient database continues to grow through many word of mouth recommendations.
Both of our treatment centres allow patients access to top of the range rehabilitation equipment and the use of a hydrotherapy pool. We accept payment from and are registered with all major health insurance companies and can offer evening and weekend appointments.
